
History
The Faculty of
Economics was the first high
educational institution in Montenegro. It was founded in 1960 by the
decree of the Parliament of the Republic of Montenegro.
Until the foundation of the University of Montenegro, in 1974, the
Faculty of Economics constituted a part of the University of
Belgrade.
The Faculty of Economics is a teaching and scientific institution
that develops the educational, scientific and researching works in
the fields of economic studies. Based on the modern science, the
Faculty educates the personnel with higher, undergraduate, and
postgraduate education in the field of economics.
In the early years of the foundation there were only 10 professors
and assistants devoted to 300 of students. In the school year 2004 /
2005, the Faculty has 56 professors and assistants, teaching about
1700 students. During more than four decades at our Faculty
graduated over 5038 students, 105 got the title of Master of Science
and 43 finished doctoral studies.
The Faculty of Economics is a high educational institution with a
complex structure that permanently promotes its educational,
personnel and material basement.
Our motto is: “The only constant of development is constant change”
That’s why the Faculty is constantly adapting to the new
circumstances, but also is trying to have an influence on them.
The Faculty of Economics brought up a great number of famous
businessmen, politicians, scientists and professors. Among them,
there are the two presidents of the Republic of Montenegro, the
president of Montenegrin Academy of Science and Art, three rectors
of the University
of Montenegro. For the achieved results in the field of education
the Faculty won many important awards such are: “Oktoih”, 1981 ,
Medal of the Republic, 1985, The Medallion of the Chamber of
Economy, 1955. |
